Doerre students share variety of cultures
published Feb. 21, 2011
Members of the Doerre Intermediate School Culture Club recently hosted a museum and a We All Eat Bread celebration.
Students created posters to introduce their cultural heritage or the heritage of a country where they have lived. For example, Caleb Jantz chose to share information about Angola where his family lived for three years. Brian Sun’s exhibit provided information about Taiwan. Roopa Nagarahjan told about India with her exhibit and demonstrated Indian dances which she taught to other students.
In addition to the museum, students prepared breads representing their cultural roots. Christalyn Pettus made African cornbread. The Hooda family brought a bread made from potatoes.
