Animal rescue team raises funds, places pets
published Apr. 27, 2011
The Village at Gleannloch Farms raised more than $500 at an Adopt-A-Pet program on April 16 to help Abandoned Animal Rescue (AAR). An estimated 100-plus area residents purchased a $5 barbecue lunch.
AAR is a nonprofit, no-kill, all-volunteer spay and neuter clinic and animal shelter. AAR takes in strays and surrendered pets from people who can no longer keep their pets but don't want to abandon them.
Rescued animals available for adoption by AAR have been neutered or spayed, received necessary medical attention and are fully vaccinated, including their rabies shot. AAR uses all funds gathered to pay for animal costs. The organization is solely staffed by volunteers, including participating veterinarians.
