HCDE awards CERT scholarships to area students

Four area high school seniors received scholarship awards of $1,000 from the Harris County Citizen Corps Teen Community Emergency Response Team, or Teen CERT.
Students enrolled in the program, coordinated by Harris County Department of Education, learn to be first responders for emergencies in their communities.
The scholarships were presented on May 5 to Anna Elizabeth Ciufo from The Woodlands High School in Conroe; Lauren Taylor Flores from Hargrave High School in Huffman; Jamal Andrew Nowlin from Carl Wunsche High School in Spring; and Sherry Sola from Mayde Creek High School in Katy.
