Former fire chief pleads guilty to sex charges
The former chief of the Stafford Fire Department pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child on Monday.
As a result of the plea bargain arrangement, Michael Shawn Melton, 48, a Spring resident, must serve a total of two years in jail over the next 10 years while he is on deferred adjudication.
