Volleyball preview: Klein v. Klein Oak
Klein visits Klein Oak in District 13-5A volleyball action on Tuesday.
The Bearkats will try to hand the Panthers their first district loss of the season.Klein won their last match in three games against Spring Dekaney, 25-17, 25-16, and 25-18. The victory lifted Klein’s season record to 10-19; with a 6-5 district mark.
Macey Pool, a 5’9’’ junior, led the way with 12 kills for Klein. Pool leads the team with 161 kills and a 3.1 kill per game average.
Alexis Fritz, a 5’7’’ senior, is the assist leader with 109 on the season. The Bearkats also get balanced play from Julia Cole. The junior has 122 kills and 27 digs on the year.
Mighty Klein Oak is 32-2 and 11-0 in district games. The Panthers won their last match in three games over Klein Forest, 25-11, 25-8, and 25-13.
Klein Oak has six players with at least 50 kills.
Bridget Benditz, a 6’0’’ senior, is one of the best players in the area as she has 522 kills on the year. Hallie McDonald, a 6’2’’ senior has 334 kills and a 3.44 kill per game average.
The team’s assist leader is Keelie Arneson. The 5’7’’ senior has 1,077 on the season Sindu Vegesena, a 5’7’’ senior, leads the club with 586 digs.
As a team, the Panthers have 1,275 kills, 1,113 assists, and 1,966 digs on the year.
Tuesday’s match is slated for 6:30 p.m.
