Westfield High School senior wins Jones Scholar-Athlete Award
Jones, one of 26 finalists for the award, was nominated by his coaches. The award highlights not only athletic excellence, but also excellence in the classroom. Jones maintains a 3.76 GPA on a 4.0 scale, ranking him among the top 40 in his class.
At the end of the 2009 Westfield football season, Jones had 37 receptions for 769 yards and 11 touchdowns. He missed the first six games of the 2010 season after suffering a devastating knee injury in May. Playing in only the last four games, Jones has 10 receptions for 217 yards and three touchdowns.
His athletic achievements earned him a spot on the First Team All District, First Team Academic All District, ESPN 150 recruit squad, Rivals.com Texas Preseason 100 Team and the Touchdown Club Preseason All Greater Houston Team.
Jones has verbally committed to Northwestern University to begin his collegiate career over offers from 12 other universities.
