Tea Party Republican Women meet Tuesday, mark Texas History Month

The Texas Tea Party Republican Women will meet Tuesday, March 8 and celebrate Texas History Month with noted Texas history author Jacquelyn Thompson and special guest Sam Houston.

The public, including men and students, is welcome to attend the event, which will be held at Shirley Acres, 217 Woerner, one mile north of 1960 off Kuykendahl.

Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. at a cost of $18 for adults and $10 for students age 11 to 20. Those who want only coffee or tea will pay $5. RSVPs for either dinner or coffee/tea must be received by noon on Monday, March 7 and can be submitted to Norma at rsvp@ttprw.org or to Rosalie at 281-610-2595.

Jacquelyn Thompson is the author of "Sabine Crossing: A Story of Early Texas." She is a sixth-generation Texan, born in Houston and raised in the tiny town of Normangee, Texas. Thompson attended the University of Texas and Sam Houston State University. She was a newspaper columnist for over 10 years and has been honored in both the manuscript and book divisions of the Texas State Genealogical Society's annual writing forum.

As a gifted public speaker and historian, Jacquelyn Thompson gives oral presentations on early Texas history and the Civil War.
