Five KISD 'Destination ImagiNation' teams advance to global finals

Mittelstadt Elementary has two teams advancing after both placed first at State.

Destination ImagiNation (DI) teams from Mittelstadt Elementary, Brill Elementary, Hassler Elementary and Ehrhardt Elementary, after competing in the state meet, are advancing to the DI Global Finals in May in Knoxville, Tenn.  

Mittelstadt Elementary has two teams advancing after both placed first at State. The two Mittelstadt Patriots teams won in the categories of "Improv...Mythology Mission" and "Structure...Verses: Foiled Again."

The "Mythology Mission" team members are Emily Cole, Dyllyn Greer, Ava Hernandez, Rebecca Walsh, Ashlyn Westfall, Trey Wolff and Macey Zajicek. The coaches are Steve Baird and Kasie Kline.

The "Verses: Foiled Again" team members are Braden Baird, Taeler Braithwaite, April Davies, Meredith Hinkle, Brandon Nailling, Kennedy Smith and Arielle Westfall. The coaches are Michelle Asselin and Nia Sestak. This is the first time Mittelstadt has won first at State and has advanced two teams in the same year to the Global Finals.

The team from Brill Elementary won second place in the "Triple Take Road Show" category. Team members are Elyse Hahn, Garrett Reedy, Caroline Phelps, Julia Harter, Trent Jones, Jack Smith and Mason Place. Maurine Whitney coaches the squad.

The Mega Mythology Masters from Hassler Elementary took first place in the "Mythology Mission" category. The team members are Natalie Davidson, Bryce Corriston, Kristina Gebbie, Spencer Mills, Luke Sexton, Parker Smith and Emily Sonnier. Tanya Shaw and Carolyn Farmer are the coaches for Hassler.

The Ehrhardt Elementary Mythical DI-mension team is also advancing to the Global Finals as a wildcard entry after placing fourth in the "Improv: Mythology Mission" category. The team members are Katherine Menzer, Grace Henze, Adeline Wylie, Ben Carson, Lyndsey McKeever, Bailey Radack and Julianna Stevens. Paula Maeker is the team's coach.

Other Klein ISD schools that participated in the state meet were Kleb, Hildebrandt and Strack at the intermediate level and Krahn and Roth at the elementary level.

Destination ImagiNation is an educational program in which student teams solve open-ended challenges and present their solutions at tournaments.
