Ulrich Intermediate teacher recognized for club sponsorships
Ulrich teacher Cary Thornton recently earned the Superintendent’s Initiative Award.
Thornton earned the Superintendent’s Initiative Award for volunteerism that makes a lasting contribution to the district. The sponsor of both the Drama Dogs Acting Club and the Environmental Club of Ulrich Intermediate School, he uses extracurricular activities to lead students toward good citizenship.
Recently, the environmental organization created a video to raise awareness of the Abandoned Animal Rescue Shelter in Tomball and directs the school’s recycling projects.
Additionally, the clubs joined forces to provide a special day for residents of The Village at Gleannloch Farms. The drama students presented dramatic presentations for the senior citizens, and the environmental group showed the animal rescue video. Both groups led the senior citizens to participate in craft activities that used recycled materials to create the projects.
