Fatal shooting at Spring-area nightclub triggers lawsuit

Family members are suing after, they say, an incompetent employee shot and killed a loved one in the parking lot of a Spring-area nightclub.

Mevelyn Jones and Krishuna Penister, on behalf of the deceased Randall Jones' estate, filed a lawsuit on July 21 in Harris County District Court against Thong Nguyen & Son Enterprises, doing business as Club L T Tranz, Spring-area Club Tranz, Lihn Tran and Anthony Hanby citing negligence, negligence per se or gross negligence.

The plaintiffs say that on July 24, 2009, convicted felon Hanby shot and killed Randall Jones in the parking lot of Club L T Tranz, located at 345 W. Richey Road in Spring. According to the brief, Hanby was working within the scope of his employment with Thong Nguyen & Son Enterprises when he carelessly discharged a firearm into a vehicle, causing Randall Jones’ death.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages and court costs. They are being represented in the case by Conroe attorney C. DeAndre’ Gibbs.
