Army tour visits Klein Oak High School

The U.S. Army’s national Strength in Action Tour recently visited Klein Oak High School.

Students’ mental and physical skills were put to the test as they participated in a series of fitness, leadership and team-building exercises. Upon registering, students were then able to go through the Precision Tour, which was comprised of several themed elements.

First was the Strong Stage, which included a confidence course where students were individually tested in core strength, rapid response and eye movement, and endurance and stamina.

The second portion of the event was a series of three team mission, mental and physical challenges. In the Boardwalk Mission challenge, participants had to work as a team to navigate and strategize their way across a series of platforms.

Next, students advanced to the Physical Challenge, which spotlighted working as a team. The members worked together to coordinate their efforts to complete five team push-ups with each student’s feet placed upon the shoulder of another.

Finally, the Mental Challenge included problem solving and teamwork through a series of questions covering history, geography, math and science.

A popular portion of the tour was the Strength to Soar aviation element, which simulated the motion of an Apache helicopter. Students teamed to control the speed and direction of the aircraft as it moved up, down and in a 360-degree rotation to give the students a real-life flight experience.

The Strength in Action Tour is sponsored by the U.S. Army and travels across the country.
