Klein ISD showcases technology
Klein ISD is among the sites being recognized by the National School Boards Association and the Technology Leadership Network during a spring series of education technology site visits through today, Feb. 21.
During the event, NSBA representatives will observe the district's Technology Baseline Standard Initiative. According to a press release, the program was the result of an intensive district study and pilot program to determine the appropriate technology tools that impact student achievement.
The program has deployed more than 8,600 tablet PCs across the district. According to the release, the program's goal is to assure all students have access to technology, and to equip teachers to effectively utilize technology to produce rigorous and engaging lessons.
"We look forward to our visitors witnessing firsthand how technology is utilized to transform learning and teaching across our school district," Ann McMullan, KISD executive director of educational technology, said in the release. "Through classroom tours, they will observe a variety of technology tools in use by teachers and students, with a focus on supporting the academic success of all students."
During the two-day visit, guests will tour Vistas and Klein Forest high schools, Krimmel Intermediate, McDougle and Benignus elementary schools and the KISD Network Operations Center. Breakout sessions offered by Klein ISD employees will feature how technology is embedded in math, across a campus and integrated throughout the curriculum.
