Klein ISD alumnus to report on presidential campaign
Garrett Haake, a member of Klein High School’s Class of 2003, is one of eight aspiring journalists chosen as an NBC News Campaign Embed reporter for the 2012 presidential election, according to a press release.
Every four years, NBC selects a group of young journalists and embeds them into the presidential campaign, according to the release. The reporter then tours the country and reports content and stories to audiences across the nation.
Haake has been on tour with Mitt Romney since July 2011.
“This is such a unique opportunity because we not only attend every event, but we are expected to stay abreast of what’s going on within the presidential race and be the experts on our candidate and/or state,” Haake said in the release. “It has been really exciting to get to just jump into the deep end, per se, with such a unique assignment that this is.”
According to the release, after graduating, Haake attended Southern Methodist University and majored in journalism with a focus in politics. During his final years at SMU he got an internship at “NBC Nightly News,” and was eventually hired back and worked his way to associate producer.
