Teen dies after being struck by vehicle

A teenager died March 24, two days after being struck by a pickup truck as he tried to cross a road on a bicycle.

Houston Police identified the teen as 14-year-old Roberto Lopez. He was transported by Life Flight to Hermann Hospital, where he was pronounced dead two days later.

According to a news release, at about 5:35 p.m., Lopez was attempting to ride his bicycle across the road in the 4900 block of Louetta Road. He was able to cross the eastbound lanes and one of the westbound lanes, but as he entered the outside westbound lane, he was struck by a Dodge pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup truck, who was not identified in the news release, was not injured.
