Klein and Austin HS grads spark UTSA in loss
Klein high school graduate Jason Mohn and Austin high school graduate Daniel Rockett had great games, but UTSA fell to Texas State, 4-3, Saturday in college baseball.
Mohn went 3-for-4, with a double and two RBIs.
Mohn is a 2008 graduate of Klein High School where he was a two-year starter in the outfield helping the team to back-to-back district titles and area semifinal appearances. As a senior, 2007-2008, he batted .473 with 17 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs and 44 RBIs to earn first-team all-state, all-District 16-5A and all-greater Houston area honors. Born Aug. 25, 1989 in Houston the son of Marvin and Estela Mohn, he is a business major at UTSA.
Rockett went 3-for-4, with two runs scored and a stolen base in the loss.
Rockett is a 2009 graduate of Austin High school where he was one of the top multi-sport athletes in the Houston area. On the diamond he was a two-year starter in the outfield at Austin. As a senior, 2008-2009, he earned all-District 23-5A recognition after batting .390 with four triples, three home runs and 30 stolen bases. During his junior campaign, 2007-2008, he posted a .311 batting average with 21 runs scored, 10 doubles and 18 RBIs.
Rockett also played basketball and football at Austin earning all-district honors on the gridiron at quarterback during his senior year. He earned a total of seven varsity letters in high school. Academically he was a two-time all-district pick. The son of Paul and Kathleen Rockett, he is a kinesiology major at UTSA.
