Village at Gleannloch Farms residents say retirement is not for them

Bruce Dice and Bill Haley, two residents who live in The Village at Gleannloch Farms, are both still in the workforce.

Dice, 85, is president of Wadi Petroleum. Haley, 82, runs several companies.

"I have good health, a good mind and I'm experiencing a sunny life," Dice said in the press release. "There's something different going on all the time in this great adventure of my life. It's something I hate to give up. I'd really miss it."

According to the press release, Dice said he promised his wife before she died that he would keep the family together, and now he works alongside his sons at the family business every day.

In addition to working at an advanced age, Dice doesn't even get paid, according to the press release. Instead of taking money out of the company to pay himself, he takes pride in performing philanthropic work, such as building a mineralogical museum at Calvin College in Michigan and being a benefactor at the Mayo Clinic, the press release stated.

Haley is a jet aircraft pilot and manages a hangar at Hooks Airport, housing aircraft that perform pipeline control and ensure the safety of a major pipeline in the U.S., the press release stated. He also owns an industrial business park called Houston Interchange.

"It keeps me sane," Haley said in the press release. "I run several companies out of one spot. I just keep going."

In addition to working, Haley eats dinner with his wife every night at The Village at Gleannloch Farms.

"It gives me something else to do and think about," Haley said in the press release. "It helps keep my marriage going."

The Village at Gleannloch Farms offers more than 100 independent living apartments and cottages for active adults age 62 and older. The community also offers a continuum of care, including 30 assisted-living apartments, 18 memory support residences and 35 private skilled nursing suites, according to the press release.
