Angela Wrigglesworth, from Klenk Elementary, was recently named elementary teacher of the year for Klein ISD.

Wrigglesworth is wheelchair-bound with spinal muscular atrophy and has been teaching at Klenk for 12 years. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Texas A&M University in 1999 and began teaching at Klenk in the fall of 2000.

“Angela is very helpful to others, is quick to volunteer and has served in several leadership positions on campus,” said Sandra Simi, Klenk’s principal, in a press release. “She deserves this honor not only because of the quality of instruction she provides in the classroom, but also because of all the many things she goes beyond the call of duty to do daily.”

Wrigglesworth continues to overcome the challenges of SMA to serve the students of Klein ISD, and maintains high expectations of both herself and her students.

“I want my students to know and understand what it takes for me to get here every day,” Wrigglesworth says. “I have to rely on others to help me and have to give it my best each day in order to be successful. So, in turn, I want their best as well.”
