Northwest Assistance Ministries awarded VA grant to aid veterans
The Veterans Assistance Program through Northwest Assistance Ministries has been awarded a grant by the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans' Assistance to aid the organization in preventing homelessness in honorably discharged veterans, their dependents and survivors who meet the income requirements.
The max income for a family of one is $37,450, for two members is $42,800, for three is $48,150, for four is $53,500, for five is $57,800 and for six members is $62,100.
To apply, applicants must be unable to pay rent due to an emergency not caused by unreasonable conduct. Funds will be provided for rent and utility assistance, security and utility deposits, moving expenses, child care, counseling and transportation, along with job-readiness training and employment coaching. All applicants must reside in Harris, Montgomery or Waller counties.
