Tomball public safety officers support Special Olympics run
Members of various safety departments gathered to honor the Special Olympics on May 23.
Included in the group were officers from the Tomball Police Department, Tomball Fire Department and Northwest EMS.
After a proclamation from Mayor Gretchen Fagan, the officers carried the Olympic flame during the Law Enforcement Torch Run to support Special Olympics.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run was established in 1981 and has been a longstanding part of the Special Olympics. Other law enforcement officers throughout Texas simultaneously carry the Flame of Hope through cities. The run ends in Arlington, where all agencies combine forces to create the final leg of the run.
