Spring landlord accused of wrongful lockout

A tenant is suing after, she says, her landlord wrongfully attempted to lock her out of her rental property in Spring.

Shanta Morris filed a lawsuit on Monday, June 4 in the Harris County District Court against Oakridge Apartments in Spring, citing wrongful lockout and wrongful interruption of utility services.

Morris says on April 10, her landlord wrongfully started a campaign to lock her out of her apartment, located at 633 Rushcreek Drive in Spring. Apartment management took many steps to evict her, including screwing the front door shut, changing her locks and shutting off her air conditioning.

The suit alleges that during a May 3 hearing, a judge ruled in favor of Morris.

Morris is seeking attorney's fees, court costs and damages. She is being represented in the case by Legal Aid attorney Tariq Franklin Gladney.
