Cypress Creek FACE Announces Performance Lineup
A foundation in Houston that aims to bring the arts to the people, Cypress Creek FACE is proud to bring great performers and performances to its 16th season, starting in September. Highlighting the schedule are shows by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Kevin Eubanks.
"We are excited to announce our new season featuring 21 concerts, from the Free Children's Series to the popular Star-Lit! Series concerts,” said Nanci Decker, Cypress Creek FACE’s executive director. “We look forward to providing northwest Houston residents wonderful entertainment options close to home."
The Star-Lit! 16th season will open on Sept. 29 with Dixieland and traditional jazz performed by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, a band from New Orleans that travels worldwide to spread New Orleans jazz.
On Dec. 31, a New Year’s Eve tradition continues with the Houston Symphony, which will perform its gala concert at Start-Lit! for the fifth year.
The five Brown siblings — Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra and Desirae — and their Steinway pianos will take center stage on Feb. 2 to perform “The 5 Browns... in Hollywood.”
Jazz guitarist and composer Kevin Eubanks will be joined by the legendary Stanley Jordan on April 6 for a performance entitled “Just the Two of Us.”
The Star-Lit! season will close on May 4 with “1964 The Tribute,” reviewed by Rolling Stone Magazine as the best Beatles tribute.
The FACE Promenade Series will feature opera, pop, dance, brass and more every Tuesday from Sept. 11 to May 14, plus a bonus performance on Feb. 23.
The Family Series is on its fifth Season, and the whole family can expect to enjoy Beethoven’s Wig on Nov. 3, featuring lyrics set to classical music. On March 23, Michael Cooper, The Masked Marvel will be onstage.
This season’s Free Children’s Series will begin with Soul Street’s “Taking it to the Streets” performance Oct. 13. WindSync will perform Dec. 8. On Jan. 19, Julian Franklin’s magic and puppet show take place, and Houston Grand Opera’s Opera to Go! presents “Daniel and the Dreamcatcher” on May 11.
Season tickets are now on sale. Call 281-440-4850 or visit www.CypressCreekFACE.org for more information. Individual concert tickets will go on sale on Aug. 20.
