Spring Woods alum leads Houston to win

Chris Snyder, a 1999 graduate of Spring Woods High School, scored two runs to help the Houston Astros to a 9-7 win over the Kansas City Royals in Major League Baseball action on Monday.

In the game, Snyder went 1-2 with an RBI. He also drew two walks.

Snyder went to college at the University of Houston and in 2001 hit .316 and led the team in home runs, hits, doubles, RBI, total bases, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, and hit by pitches. He was named All-Conference USA second team and also played for Team USA hitting one home run with nine RBI.

On the season, the catcher is batting .196.

Snyder was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 1999 Major League Baseball Draft, but chose to attend college. He was then drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second round of the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft.
