Westfield sophomore Alaysha Johnson wins UIL 5A 300-meter hurdles
Westfield High School sophomore Alaysha Johnson won the UIL 5A 300-meter hurdles and took second place in the 100 hurdles at the state track and field feet May 11-12 at Mike Meyers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas-Austin.
Winning the hurdles with a time of 41.83 seconds gave Johnson the 10th fastest time in the nation, and her second-place finish in the 100 hurdles is the 13th fastest time.
The Houston Chronicle selected Johnson as the Girls Athlete of the Year for All-Greater Houston High School track and field for her accomplishments.
