Josephine Silvederio was named Houston Northwest Medical's Nurse of the Year.
As part of her award, Silvederio received a commemorative plaque and a cruise for two to a destination of her choice.
“We have this award to recognize a nurse who goes well above and beyond the normal expectations, and also demonstrates the positive characteristics that make him or her a good role model for the nursing staff,” said Terry Kirk, chief nursing officer at Houston Northwest Medical Center, in a press release. “Josephine quietly goes around doing all these wonderful things for people without calling attention to herself.”
Silvederio, who has worked at the medical center since 1997, serves as charge nurse on the hospital's 6 South medical/surgical unit and is a member of the Wound Care Committee and the Shared Governance Council.
She has a bachelor's degree in nursing from Western Mindanao State University in the Philippines.
Houston Northwest Medical Center is at 710 FM 1960 Road West.
