Houston's Office of Sustainability encourages environmental changes
Houston has been named the No. 1 municipal purchaser of green power in Texas by the Environmental Protection Agency.
Laura Spanijan, director of Houston's Office of Sustainability, works to ensure air and water quality, food safety, kids' health, occupational health and animal protection.
Ed Gonzalez of the Houston City Council recently returned from a meeting with senior White House officials at which members of the meeting offered new ideas and green practices that have been working in their communities.
Together with residents’ help, Houston's environment can improve even more and become a sustainable community for future generations, according to the press release.
