Klein High School grad Barfield helps Midland beat Springfield
Former Klein High School standout Jeremy Barfield picked up a pair of singles in the Midland Rockhounds 8-3 victory over the Springfield Cardinals in a Double-A Texas League game Tuesday, July 3.
Barfield, a right fielder, is batting .278 with eight home runs, 42 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He has also belted 14 doubles and stole a base this season.
While attending San Jacinto College North, Barfield was selected in the ninth round of the 2006 amateur draft by the New York Mets but did not sign. In 2008 he was taken in the eighth round of the amateur draft by the Oakland Athletics.
Barfield is the son of former Major League Baseball All-Star outfielder Jesse Barfield, and has an older brother, Josh, who is a second baseman in the Baltimore Orioles organization.
