New Caney standout Dunn homers again for Chicago
New Caney High School standout Adam Dunn blasted his 26th home run of the season Friday, July 13 as the Chicago White Sox beat the Kansas City Royals 9-8 in 14 innings.
Dunn went 2-for-4, with two RBIs and two runs scored.
On the season, Dunn is batting .215 with 26 home runs and 65 RBIs. The Cincinnati Reds drafted Dunn in the second round (50th overall) of the 1998 amateur draft. He made his big league debut on July 20, 2001, and went on to set a rookie record for most home runs in a month, with 12, in August 2001.
Dunn spent parts of eight seasons with the Reds before being traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Aug. 11, 2008, for three players. A free agent after the season for the first time, he signed a two-year contract to play for the Washington Nationals. On Dec. 2, 2010, Dunn signed a four-year, $56 million contract with Chicago.
Dunn was born Nov. 9, 1979, in Houston.
