Harris County Sheriff's Office charges woman in son's death

Vastie Sharika Coleman, of Spring, was charged with injury to a child after her 4-year-old son died July 15, according to a press release from the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded to the village of Pine Lakes Apartments to answer a call regarding an unresponsive 4-year-old boy.

An ambulance took the boy to Northeast Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide investigators interviewed family members at the scene and charged Coleman, 27, with injury to a child.

Coleman is being held without bond in the Harris County Jail.
