Klein alum a part of Rangers victory

David Murphy, a 2000 graduate of Klein High School, hit a key single to help the Texas Rangers to a 6-1 win over the Oakland A's in Major League Baseball action on Tuesday.

Murphy went 1 for 4, with a run to help Roy Oswalt record his third win of the season. In 2012, Murphy is batting .279, with nine home runs, and 32 RBI.

After a standout career at Klein, Murphy played college baseball at Baylor University. He was drafted in the 2003 Major League Baseball Draft by the Boston Red Sox.

He became part of the Texas Rangers in 2007 when he was acquired by trade.
