Willow Creek Golf Club to host scleroderma research fundraiser
The Willow Creek Golf Club will host a research fundraiser for scleroderma in September.
According to a press release, the benefit will feature a casino night, food, live and silent auctions and raffles. The event will start at 7 pm. Sept. 8 at the golf club, located at 24525 Northcrest Drive.
Diane Schumacher is hosting the benefit. According to the press release, Schumacher's mother, Joan Kosmach, died from complications of scleroderma. Since then, Schumacher and her siblings have worked to raise money and research to increase awareness of the disease and raise money for improved therapies and to find a cure. The Kosmach family has raised more than $288,000 for scleroderma research.

Since 1987 the Scleroderma Research Foundation has raised more than $32 million and is the nation's leading scleroderma research foundation, the press release stated. It relies upon volunteers who are a part of its Cure Crew to raise funds and spread awareness.
