Massage Heights announces scholarship opportunities
Those interested in pursuing a career in massage therapy can now apply for help covering education costs.
Massage Heights in Houston is offering $5,000 scholarships to individuals who would like to get back into the work force with a new career. The new scholarship program has been made possible by a partnership with the Texas School of Massage.
"In the case of massage therapists, the demand far exceeds the supply," said J.D. Busch, Massage Heights's Houston and Dallas regional developer, in a press release. "And with so many people looking for work these days, we thought that it only made sense to offer deserving individuals the chance to get back into the work force with a dynamic new career. Once they receive their license as a massage therapist, jobs will be waiting for them. It is good for them and great for the industry."
According to Dr. James Wray of the Texas School of Massage, students can complete certification anywhere from six months to a year, depending on how many classes the student chooses to take at the same time.
"The best candidates for a career in massage therapy are people who enjoy helping others and who are genuinely empathetic," Wray said. "In many cases, we find that individuals who have considered working in the medical community are well suited to massage therapy, because this career path gives them the opportunity to serve people, both by providing relief from discomfort and by enhancing their clients' general well-being."
