Sam's Deli keeps it tasty with an old-time appeal

The All-Day Burger, made up of a 1/3-pound ground beef patty, an egg, three sausage patties, ham, bacon and American and Swiss cheeses, or the Katy Burger, with three meat patties, bacon and American, Swiss, pepper jack and Monterey Jack cheeses are just a couple of the famous dishes. WHAT YOU'LL FIND: An iconic diner-style restaurant with an open kitchen, plenty of tables and open space, and a 30-foot-long dining counter with stools. On the walls are painted the names of local high schools as well as a list of all the establishment's ice cream choices. Outside is the original Sam's Deli Diner sign.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: It's tasty food and a friendly atmosphere that have kept Sam's Deli Diner a neighborhood tradition since 1975, as far as general manager Byron Meyer can figure it. In its current location for seven years, Meyer said, "We've got a ton of regular customers that come in. I think it's because of our positive attitude and good food. Everybody around here knows everybody. And we don't advertise; it's all word of mouth."
