Escape city life at scenic Burroughs Park
For Tomball residents who love the great outdoors, there are few places better to visit than Burroughs Park, which occupies 320 scenic acres.
The scenery alone is enough of a reason to go, but there are several other attractions as well. Multiple sports fields are at the site, although their use must be approved by the Burroughs Sports Association. A large fishing lake is open to everyone, as are multiple miles of walking trails and five playgrounds for children.
The large, covered pavilion is a perfect place to host private events, as it seats 250 people. Visitors can even bring their pets, with a designated dog park on the grounds.

WHY YOU SHOULD GO: It is good to get away from the urban environment every once in a while. Get back to nature with a leisurely stroll through the scenic Burroughs Park surroundings. You can bring your family for a picnic or just take the dog out for a walk. There is a large, beautiful lake where you can go fishing, and there are several sports fields (soccer and softball) if you feel like engaging in a more athletic activity.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: "Burroughs Park is not what many people expect out of an urban county park. It almost appears to be a state park because there is so much wooded area. There are lots of trails for people to walk. It's a very beautiful green space in the Tomball area. It is just as green a space as you could hope for." — Mark Seegers, communications director
