Spring Independent School District plans to re-purpose old smartphones

Donations of old smartphones are now being accepted for a pilot project in Spring Independent School District classrooms.

The donated phones will be used as Wi-Fi devices for a project this school year at Carl Wunsche Senior High School, Roberson Middle School and Dueitt Middle School. At the participating schools students will be able to use their own electronic devices to access the district's Wi-Fi network for educational purposes in the classroom. Students without their own device will be able to use one of the donated phones while in the classrooms. All data on the donated phones will be erased by the Spring Independent School District Technology Department prior to use in the classroom.

Donations can be made in the reception area of the Gordon M. Anderson Leadership Center, located at 16717 Ella Blvd. All donated phones must be accompanied by a working power cord.
