Credit association enlists Texans for leadership roles

The Association of Credit and Collection Professionals last month selected Thomas Stockton of Carrollton to lead its newly elected board of directors.

Loraine Lyons of Houston was also chosen to serve on the new board.

ACA members approved a new governance structure in March, creating a Council of Delegates in addition to its 15-member board of directors. The Council of Delegates elected new board members at ACA's 73rd annual Convention and Exposition in Hollywood, Fla. July 17-20.

"I am both proud and humble to serve ACA members, particularly at such an important time in the association's history," Stockton said in a press release.

Stockton is a founder and CEO of The CMI Group in Carrollton. He has worked at ACA International and ACA of Texas, where he served as president. He is also a U.S. Navy veteran.

Lyons is senior vice president and general counsel of FMA Alliance in Houston. She is a longtime industry champion at ACA International and ACA of Texas.

In addition to Stockton and Lyons, the newly elected members of the ACA International Board of Directors include Leslie Bender of Maryland (president-elect), Bill Hopkinson of Virginia, Tim Mabry of Oregon (treasurer), Keith Kettelkamp of New Jersey, Debra Ciskey of Illinois, Matt Laws of Colorado, Rick Doane of New York, Rick Perr of Pennsylvania, Michael Gardner of Kentucky, Jim Richards of Georgia, Tom Gavinski of Minnesota, Mel Shaw of California and Tom Haag of Wisconsin.

"ACA's inaugural board of directors is comprised of exceptional industry leaders with diverse expertise and perspectives," ACA International CEO Pat Morris said in the release. "We are well-positioned to tackle the important opportunities and challenges facing our members."

ACA International, founded in 1939, brings together more than 5,000 credit and collection industry members worldwide. Members include third-party collection agencies, asset buyers, attorneys, creditors and vendor affiliates. The association establishes industry standards and provides services and publications.
