Klein High alum David Murphy helps Rangers take down Royals
Klein High School graduate David Murphy and the Texas Rangers beat the Kansas City Royals 4-2 Aug. 4.
Murphy went 1-for-3 with a walk in the victory.
On the season, Murphy is batting .300 with nine home runs, 40 RBIs and eight stolen bases.
Murphy has played in 94 games this season. He has scored 36 runs and has 18 doubles. Murphy has drawn 38 walks and struck out 47 times.
Murphy has played 68 of his 91 games this season in left field.
Murphy's on base percentage is .346 on the year. He is slugging at a .450 clip.
After a standout career at Klein, Murphy played college baseball at Baylor University. He was picked in the 2003 Major League draft by the Boston Red Sox.
He joined the Rangers in 2007 as part of a trade.
