McGown named principal at Zwink Elementary
Jenny McGown, the former principal at Ehrhardt Elementary, has been selected to be the first principal of the new Zwink Elementary school.
McGown has worked in the Klein Independent School District for nine years. She has served as an assistant principal at Klein Collins High School and Benignus Elementary, and associate principal at Brill Elementary.
She also won teacher of the year honors at Klein Collins High School in the 2004-2005 school year.
"The opportunity to open a new school is an incredible opportunity," McGown said in a press release. "To be able to establish the culture of a campus from the ground up is very exciting."
A graduate of Texas A&M University, Klein went on to Sam Houston State University to obtain her masters degree. Her first teaching experiences were in Uzbekistan.
Klein says the community's involvement in children's education is equally as important to student success as the school's faculty.
"Whether you are talking about the students or staff, the most important thing you can do as a leader is to let people know that you genuinely care about them and that you support them in achieving excellence," Klein said.
Zwink Elementary will open its doors for the new school year on Monday, Aug. 27.
