More than 50 people helped raise money to provide postage for care packages to American troops in hazardous areas of the world at a fundraiser to benefit the Texas chapter of the U.S. Troop Support Foundation on June 27.
Crescent Moon Wine Bar and Restaurant and Lone Star Ace Hardware held a fundraiser to benefit the Texas chapter of the U.S. Troop Support Foundation on June 27.
According to a press release, more than 50 people helped raise money to provide postage for care packages to American troops in hazardous areas of the world.
"High fives to Crescent Moon Wine Bar and Restaurant as well as Lone Star ACE Hardware for sponsoring a very successful fundraiser dinner," said Dennis Bernhart, the head of the Texas Chapter, in a release. "The funds raised provided postage for 227 care packages to be sent to individual troops deployed in harm's way. Several new volunteers and sponsors were added to those currently supporting Texas Chapter — USTSF as a result of their participation."
The charitable organization currently has 3,000 troops on its Texas Chapter mailing list and sends personal supplies, along with notes of appreciation and thanks, to help troops cope with their deployment.
Crescent Moon Wine Bar and Restaurant and Lone Star Ace, both supporters of the Texas Chapter of the U.S. Troop Support Foundation, were happy to host the fundraiser.
"We have joined forces to make people aware of the drastic needs of troops still serving in Afghanistan and other hazardous duty postings," said Rodney Anderson, co-owner of Crescent Moon. "We encourage individuals and other businesses to help this worthwhile organization."
