Bariatric patients celebrate weight loss success

Bariatric patients at Houston Northwest Medical Center recently celebrated their weight loss success during a fashion show and awards ceremony sponsored by the hospital.

Bariatric patients at Houston Northwest Medical Center recently celebrated their weight loss success during a fashion show and awards ceremony sponsored by the hospital.

According to a press release, more than 14 bariatric patients gathered together with their family, friends and hospital staff members to reflect on losing a combined 1,284.5 pounds in the months following their gastric bypass operations.

Each patient showed off their new look and provided a two-minute speech about their life before and after weight loss.

"Each of our patients has worked hard to get to where they are today and it shows," said Linda Mercier, chief executive officer at Houston Northwest Medical Center, in the release. "Losing weight is such a great accomplishment for those who have been overweight or obese for a good part of their lives. They have made incredible strides in improving their health and reducing the risk of health problems that often accompany being morbidly obese. They have done a remarkable job."
