Spring woman sues daughter in connection with alleged fraud
A Spring woman is suing over claims her daughter defrauded her out of $30,000 and then committed her to a hospital over false claims of dementia. Mary Nelson Parker, of Spring, filed a lawsuit on Aug. 8 in Harris County District Court against Yolanda Weigand, citing fraud, false imprisonment and slander. The suit alleges that in March, Weigand tricked Parker, her mother, into appointing her as a signatory on Parker's bank account in order to withdraw more than $30,000. Weigand also allegedly stole $75,000 worth of her mother's jewelry and then committed her mother to a hospital, falsely claiming she suffered from dementia, in an attempt to cover up her actions, according to the brief. Parker is seeking attorney's fees, court costs and damages. She is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Larry Chamberlin. Harris County District Court Case No. 2012-45195.
