Spring Woods HS grad Chris Snyder and the Astros take down Cubs
Spring Woods High School graduate Chris Snyder and the Astros defeated the Chicago Cubs 10-1 on Tuesday, Aug.14.
Snyder went 1-for-4 in the Astros' victory.
On the season, Snyder, a catcher, is batting .179 with five home runs and 20 RBIs.
Snyder has 32 hits in 179 at bats this season. He has played in 61 games, walked 26 times and scored 18 runs.
The Seattle Mariners drafted Snyder in the 1999 amateur draft but he did not sign with the team, electing to attend the University of Houston instead. He was then drafted in the second round (68th overall) of the 2002 amateur draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Snyder spent parts of seven seasons with Arizona, making his Major League debut Aug. 21, 2004, before being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates July 31, 2010, in a five-player swap. Snyder signed with his hometown Astros as a free agent Jan. 20.
Snyder was born Feb. 12, 1981, in Houston.
