Klein ISD multipurpose center now open
The Klein Independent School District opened its new Multipurpose Center at 7520 FM 2920, Klein in June.
The center was part of the 2008 bond program and will serve as the district's home to professional development sessions and two operational departments, according to a press release.
The 125,000-square-foot facility contains technology and large meeting spaces to accommodate up to 600 people. The center recently hosted more than 300 new teachers for a teacher orientation program as well as the Administrators Leadership Academy.
"It's been a great experience to be here because a lot of the basic computer and technology things that we've been talking about have been easier to learn here at the center," said Johnathan Cranford, a new Klein ISD teacher, in the press release. "I am even more excited to now be a part of Klein."
Professional development training was formerly conducted in several facilities throughout the district and Klein community. With one central location, the district expects to avoid the need for summer staffing at other campuses and eliminate the reliance on outside venues, according to the release.
"All of the technology and space we need is here," said Stephanie Edgar, instructional officer in the Klein ISD, in the release. "Being able to hold an event like this at the Multipurpose Center represents what Klein is about. We place a strong emphasis on staff development and value close, faculty relationships, and this facility makes it possible."
The center will be home to the annual Future Farmers of America Livestock and Project Show. It will also contain educational technology classrooms, plant operations, nutrition and food service departments. A test kitchen was built in the center to enable the food services department to certify the safety of equipment and products before they are released to the campuses.
The Klein Independent School District headquarters are at 7200 Spring Cypress Road, Klein.
