Houston Northwest Medical Center to offer free prostate cancer screenings Sept. 15
Houston Northwest Medical Center is offering free prostate screenings from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15.
The screenings will include a prostate-specific antigen blood test and a digital rectal exam, according to a press release from the medical center. The screening test takes less than 30 minutes.
One in six men will get prostate cancer during his lifetime, and more than 217,000 American males are expected to be diagnosed with the disease this year, according to the release. The American Cancer Society recommends an initial prostate exam at age 50, or at age 45 for men with a family history of prostate cancer.
