Klein High School grad McDonald completes Navy basic training
Zachary R. McDonald recently graduated from U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
A 2007 graduate of Klein High School in Spring, McDonald is the son of Kelly A. Caho, of Houston.
McDonald's basic training included an eight-week training program that involved classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety.
Boot camp recruits also participate in Battle Stations, an exercise that provides needed skills and confidence, according to a press release.
The Battle Stations exercise is designed to teach recruits the importance of sacrifice, dedication, teamwork, endurance, honor, courage and commitment through the practical application of basic Navy skills.
