Local non-profits and teachers in the Spring, Klein, Cy-Fair, Tomball and Aldine independent districts with community benefit projects are invited to apply for a North Harris County Branch of the American Association of University Women educational grant.
This past spring the non-profit educational organization funded nine projects totaling $11,000. Grants were awarded to Boys and Girls Country, Cypress Creek CCC, Barbara Bush Library Friends, Cypress Creek Fine Art Association/Pearl Fincher Museum, Farney Elementary CFISD, Hopper and Kahla Middle Schools CFISD, Vistas High School and Zwink Elementary KISD. Funding for the grant program comes from the annual Outstanding Women of North Harris County Awards Luncheon.
Those interested in applying for the 2012 grant program with community projects that promote AAUW's mission of "equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research" may submit an application before Dec. 1. Grants will be awarded during the Outstanding Women of North Harris County Awards Luncheon in February.
