An exciting October is on tap at Cypress Creek FACE
The performances by the Cypress Creek FACE (Foundation for the Arts & Community Enrichment) these past months have been no less than inspiring, and this October, the organization will once again showcase great talent as they feature the shows "Dance of Asian America" and "Soul Street presents 'Taking It to the Streets'".
"Dance of Asian America is dedicated to promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of China through authentic and contemporary Chinese dance," states the foundation's website. "Each dance performed includes authentic Chinese costumes, music, and descriptions that will guide the audience to a better understanding of China's rich cultural heritage."
The performance features several award winning guest artists from one of China's best companies, and will take place at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Tickets are $12 for adult, $10 for senior, $6 for child/student, and $8 each for groups of six or more.
On Saturday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m., "Soul Street presents 'Taking It to the Streets'" will be presented. Soul Street is a company in Houston that incorporates different styles of street dance, pushing its artistic boundaries to its limits while still maintaining the true essence of the culture. The free show will showcase the group's high-energy movements that will keep the audience at the edge of their seats.
Quoting the website, "They fly through the air with the greatest of ease! They dance en pointe while semi-crouched in high-top sneakers! Catch the excitement of Street Dance as these energetic performers demonstrate their varied styles and discuss the distinctive features and origins of each dance."
Both performances will be held at Cypress Creek FACE's The Centrum, located at 6823 Cypresswood Drive in Spring. For tickets or inquiries, please call 281-440-4850 or go to http://www.cypresscreekface.org.
