Birdsong Items available at Just for the Birds

Many people, especially those in busy and crowded areas, are no longer able to enjoy the soothing sounds of nature.  Just for the Birds, the little shop in Old Town Spring with a huge heart for wildlife, gives everyone a chance to enjoy avian music through the store's line of birdsong items. 

"Birdsongs can be so soothing either just by themselves or in the background with music," Kathy Coward, the owner of Just for the Birds, said.  "Just For The Birds has wonderful CDs with both of these options. Another added attraction with these is that if you play them outside, birds will come down to see what is going on.  They are very inquisitive when they hear other birds singing."

Since different bird species have their own distinct calls and voices, it can be difficult for the untrained listener to identify which song belongs to what bird.  With the identiFlyer, however, just about anyone can learn this skill.  Each BirdSong identiFlyer Kit comes with one player, a guidebook and two songcards imbedded with a microchip, featuring the sounds of 10 birds a piece.  The songcards can be also be used for the Singing AlarmClock, which is sold separately. This will allow a nature lover to wake up to a birdcall each morning.  Additional songcards are also available for purchase.

"The next step up is the identiFlyer Ultra, which is a handheld song player that has instant access to 120 bird and 10 frog images and songs," Coward added.  "The latest version is the iFlyer Wand."

The iFlyer Wand System includes: a pen-sized scanner; a book containing 216 birds and 10 frogs, each with corresponding bar codes, and song code labels that can be used for the owner's personal field guide.

The store also carries books with birdsongs, as well as Audubon Bird Clocks, which plays a song hourly during the day but is silent at night thanks to a built-in sensor.
