Habitat for Humanity Northwest Harris County begins construction on 200th home
Habitat for Humanity Northwest Harris County celebrated the start of the construction of its 200th home at a wall raising ceremony Saturday, Sept. 8.
The home will be placed at the Hamill Crossing neighborhood on the northeast corner of West Richey Road and Champion Forest Drive. Officials estimate that the project will be completed over the next 16 to 20 weeks.
Linda Nielson, board president of Habitat for Humanity Northwest Harris County, noted that 200 homes is a significant milestone for the organization.
Habitat for Humanity Northwest Harris County, 13350 Jones Road, Houston, was established in 1989 by 12 area churches as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. It is a nonprofit volunteer driven organization dedicated to eliminating sub-standard housing and is one of eight Habitat affiliates in metropolitan Houston.
