Northland Christian drops Covenant Christian in straight sets
Courtney Davis and the Northland Christian High School girls volleyball team put away Covenant Christian High School in straight sets Sept. 11 in Houston.
Davis lead Northland (10-1) with 15 kills and nine digs in the 25-15, 25-22, 25-17 straight set win. Katie Martin came up with 22 digs, five kills and an assist, and Annie Kraner contributed with 21 assists and six digs as the Cougars won their third straight match.
Northland's only loss of the season came during its first meeting of the season against HCYA High School on Aug. 28. The Cougars returned the favor Sept. 6 with a straight set sweep.
Covenant Christian (3-2) had its three match winning streak snapped, and will be back in action at Logos Prep High School at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, and will participate in the Living Stones Christian Tournament Friday and Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sept. 22, in Alvin.
Northland Christian next plays against TAPPS 4A District 4 opponents Second Baptist at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, before visiting Emery/Weiner High School at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20. The Cougars will then host Awty International High School at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25.
