Klein ISD selected for Texas High Performance Schools Consortium
Klein ISD has been selected as one of 23 school districts to participate in the Texas High Performance Schools Consortium, which helps to develop next-generation learning standards, assessments and accountability systems across the state.
According to the press release, Texas Commissioner of Education Michael L. Williams stated, "School districts selected to participate in the consortium are already known for their innovative work and are looked to by many as educational leaders. This exciting project will help the governor, legislative leaders and the Texas Education Agency craft a sound, well-thought-out plan to move all Texas schools to the next performance level."
As a member of the consortium, Klein ISD will make recommendations in four key areas: digital learning, learning standards, multiple assessments and local control.
"This is a great opportunity for the Klein ISD to work with and learn from the other 22 high performing school districts," Susan Borg, Klein ISD associate superintendent of curriculum and instruction, said in the release. "As a consortium, we will also have a chance to make recommendations for future state processes for public education."
